There is an image of this
cultivar on the
Hosta Library. From the photo, it appears to be a small
size hosta with dark green leaves and a very narrow,
creamy white marginal variegation. It has pale purple
flowers with lighter stripes.
This hosta from Japan has
been found listed under several variations to this name
including H. Alcebana
Fukurin', H. 'Alcebana Kikurin',
H. 'Alcebana Kikurin' and
H. 'Kifukurin
Alcebana'. It seems that all have green leaves with
a white marginal variegation but may differ in other
traits.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kifukurin or ki fukurin as yellow edge(d) or
yellow margin(ed) and the term fukurin as margined or edged. |
