This cultivar is a sport of H. kikutii which is native to Japan and was first described by Dr Noboru Fujita of Japan in 1976. It is a medium size hosta with narrow green foliage. Lavender flowers bloom from August into September.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...H. kikutii polyneuron and H. kikutii yakusimensis are nearly identical, the main difference being their native habitats."
