This cultivar is a hybrid of H. 'Blue
Arrow' × H. 'Elatior' that was registered by
Bob Balitewicz of Indiana in 1999. The large size (21 inches high
by about 56 inches wide) plant has narrowly ovate leaves with a
thick underside bloom. Its near white flowers bloom from late July into mid-August
followed by viable seeds.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The appearance of this rich blue-leaved cultivar
is all
				Tardiana, albeit at the
large end of the size range."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
				Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "A vigorous, rapid increaser for a blue-leaved
hosta."

An article about favorite blue hostas in
			The
Hosta Journal (2006 Vol. 37 No. 2) reported the
responses of the following hosta hybridizers:
Charles Tuttle
	- "H. 'Buckeye Blue'
has to be up there in the top five."
Bob Balitewicz
	- "My favorite is 'Yankee
Blue'."
Kent Terpening
	- "H. 'Winfield Blue'.
	I also vote for 'Venetian
Blue' and 'Blue Jay' and 'Deep Blue Sea' and ..."

Mary Chastain
	- "Several garden
visitors have stated that 'Lakeside Color Blue' is the bluest hosta they have
ever seen"
Virginia and Brian Skaggs
	- "What is the bluest? What time of
day? What time of year? The color is different under different lights and
different times of the year. Everyone's eyes see colors differently too. Tough
call!"
