A slow growing sport from
tissue culture of H. 'Stolen Kiss',
this is a non-registered cultivar of
Jim Anderson of
Winterberry Farms in Georgia. A dense,
small size (6
inches high by 15 inches wide) mound of ovate-shaped, slightly wavy foliage. Pale purple flowers
bloom in July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Attempting to accurately describe the variegation
patter of 'Silver Threads & Golden Needles' can be a difficult chore. Besides
variability from leaf to leaf within individual clumps, specimens differ
significantly from garden to garden."
The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack
(2010) says: "A beautiful hosta that needs to be grown in good
light but not in the direct sun. Not easy to grow,
requiring perfect light conditions to maintain the
unique leaf pattern and coloration."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Suitable for growing with miniature and very small
hostas as it is slow growing and does not perform well in all
gardens...The central markings are not always stable...An
interesting and unusual hosta well worth the time and trouble to
nurture it...The central portion of the leaf has an unusual
variegation..."
