This cultivar is a sport of
				H. 'Elegans'
that emerged during
				tissue culture. It was
				registered by
Walters Gardens,
Inc. of Michigan in 1984 and forms a medium size (14 inches high) plant. The foliage is ovate shaped, slightly corrugated
and of average substance. Near white flowers bloom from late June into July.
 According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "As the years go by, fewer and
fewer hosta enthusiasts attempt to grow 'Northern Lights'. It
has proven to be a very slow grower due to its lack of
chlorophyll...Most collectors grow 'Northern Mist', 'Northern
				Mystery' or 'Great
				Expectations' instead."
