						 This is a sport of
				H. 'Frances
Williams' and it is similar to several other plants known as the

						H. 'Sieboldiana'
yellow group. It is a large size hosta with yellow
			(lutescent) leaves and bell-shaped,
near white flowers in clusters from late June into July. It is an
American Hosta Society registrant  from 1984.

						 According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "This
is the much maligned gold-leaved sport out of
'Frances Williams' with the unfortunate habit of developing
				heavy amounts of
spring desiccation burn. It has many great
qualities (substance, flowers, large size), bit it can
			become so
badly burned in spring, that it is not recommended  for
general garden usage. For a similar appearance, but without the
burn, try 'Abiqua Gold Shield', 'City
				Lights', 'Golden Waffles',
				'Piedmont Gold', or 'Zounds'."

			An article by
Marvin C. Eisel, Hosta Registrar in
			The
Hosta Journal (1985 Vol. 16) states that, "In the Fall
1984 The American Hosta
Society Newsletter, page 12, I reported that I had registered in the name of
The American Hosta
Society, the cultivar name 'Golden Sunburst' for the golden forms
of H. '
Frances Williams' and 'Golden Medallion' for all the golden
mutations of H. tokudama."

						 Nomenclature changes recommended in the
1991 book The
Genus Hosta by
	W. George Schmid and accepted by The American Hosta Society would update names as follows: H. tokudama is now H. 'Tokudama'.
