Upright, somewhat leggy, shrub.
8 to 10 feet in height with similar spread.
White borne in flat-topped, 5 rayed cymes about 3 to 5 inches in diameter. Profusely produced on the plant.
May to early June
Opposite, simple, suborbicular to broad-ovate to obovate, 2 to 5” long, to about half as wide. Lustrous dark green on top and pubescent on both sides with 5 to 8 pairs of veins.

Profuse red fruit (drupe). Excellent feature of this plant.
 
 
  • 'Erie' - Rounded shrub 6 feet high by 10 feed wide.
  • 'Iroquois' - Large, thick textured, dark green leaves with abundant flowers and fruit.
  • 'Mt. Airy' - 6 to 7 feet tall with lustrous, leathery dark green foliage.
  • 'Oneida' - Abundant flowers in May and some throughout the summer. Upright growth habit.
  • 'Xanthocarpum' - Yellow to amber colored fruit.
