The flowers of the species are blue, ˝ wide and
are borne in loose racemes originating from the
upper leaf axils. Most other ornamental
speedwells have flowers in terminal racemes.
Individual flowers have a 4-5 parted calyx and a
corolla with a short tube and a spreading limb,
usually with 4-5 lobes. |

The opposite leaves are short petioled near the
base and sessile higher on the stem. They are oblong or
linear-lanceolate, to 1˝ long and are crenate to
sparsely toothed. |

- 'Blue Fountain- Bright blue flowers are borne in racemes
which terminate stems that are up to 24 inches tall.
- 'Crater Lake Blue' -
Bright blue flowers, 12-15 inches tall.
- 'Kapitan' - Blue flowers are carried on short spikes, 10 inches
tall.
- 'Royal Blue' - Deep-blue flowers are carried on dense
plants, 12-18 inches tall.
- 'Shirley Blue- Brilliant blue flowers, 8-10 inches tall and
12 inches wide.
- 'Trehane' - Dark blue
flowers, golden green foliage, 6-8 inches
tall

Veronica is named in honor of an early
English botanist, William Vernon, who travelled
in the United States. |
