The lemon yellow
flowers are globular, 1-2 inches wide and are
borne solitary or in twos on terminal stems. The
showy part of the flower is actually the petaloid sepals. Which
are ovate and incurved. The 5 or more petals are
generally small and spatulate.
Late spring with
sporadic flowering to midsummer.
Leaves are dark
green above and paler below. Basal leaves are petioled and palmately
3-5 lobed, while the stem leaves are sessile
and 3 lobed. The margins are toothed.
