Lavender-violet flowers with primrose-yellow
stamens. The flowers have no true petals, only
petal-like sepals and many colored stamens. This
unusual characteristic draws attention to this
plant.
Late summer
Alternate, pinnately compound, leaflets obtuse,
entire, or the terminal leaflets 3 lobed. Leaves create
a fine texture somewhat similar to the maidenhair fern.
