Symphytum grandiflorum
Groundcover Comfrey
3-8
Caucasus Mountains

8-12 inches tall mound with an 18-24 inches spread.
The tubular, creamy yellow flower is subtended by a 5 lobed, bristly calyx. The flower is ˝-1 inch long and the corolla is 2 or 3 times longer than the calyx. Flowers are arranged in a scorpioid, racemose cyme.
Late spring to early summer
The alternate leaves are mainly basal. Leaves are ovate, up to 4 inches long, with a long, grooved petiole. The leaves are covered with a bristle-like pubescence and have a ciliate margin. The pubescence creates a very scabrous leaf texture.
