Japan, Korea, and in China north to the Himalayan Mountains

Rounded shrub.
15 to 30 inches tall.
Rosy pink
May - July
The leaves range from 1 to 3” long with distinct, sharp serrations.
 
 
 
 
 
 
  • 'Atrosanguinea' - Deep rose-red flowers 4 to 5 inches in diameter.
  • 'Coccinea' - Very similar to 'Atrosanguinea'
  • 'Fortunei' - Discovered in China by plant explorer, Robert Fortune in 1949. Not found much anymore.
  • 'Glabrata' - Rosy pink flowers 12 inches in diameter.
  • 'Goldmound' - Golden leaves throughout the summer.
  • 'Golden Princess' - From Alan Bloom at Bressingham Gardens in England. Bronze-yellow leaves.
  • 'Macrophylla' - Large leaf version with good fall color.
