The narrow inflorescences are borne on wiry stems that rise above the arching leaf blades. The 6-8 inches long inflorescence is composed of several adpressed spikes that are held in a racemose fashion on the stem. It is light green turning to beige at maturity.
Late summer
Leaf blades are ⅔ inches wide, 24 inches long, flat in section, very scabrous on the margin, with a graceful arch. Foliage is light green.
