Upright, arching stems create a 3 feet tall clump

Creamy-white flowers are very small and are arranged in a fluffy panicle that is about 6 inches long. Red berries follow flowering during the summer.
Mid to late spring.
Leaves alternate, has short petioles to sessile, elliptic to lanceolate ovate to 6 inches long and 3 inches wide. The strongly ribbed leaves are arranged on a slightly zigzagged stem.
 
 
 
 
Smilacina is derived from Smilax which is a genus of woodland vines. The ribbed leaves and zigzag stems are similar to Smilax.
