18-24 inches tall
Lilac-blue flowers are arranged in whorls that
are widely separated on an erect raceme.
Individual flowers are 2 lipped, with the upper
lip being straight or arched a hairy ring is
found inside each corolla.
Leaves 3-4 inches long, half of the length being
the petiole, ½-¾ inch wide. Margins are finely crenate
to entire. Both surfaces are softly pubescent, upper
surface resembling the pebbly surface of a basketball.
The leaves of dwarf sage are 1-2 inches long and ¼ inch
wide. Stems are square with opposite arranged
leaves.
