	Small tree 30-35 feet tall, 15-20 feet wide with spreading branches.
	Plants are dioecious with flowers in catkins. Male flowers with 2 stamens.
	Flowers borne in spring.
	Alternate leaves 2-3 inches long, narrow-lanceolate, whitish beneath, silky at first and then turning glabrous.
	Spiral stems yellow or olive-green. Buds with single bud scale.
	Fruit is a 2 valved capsule.
