The flowers are
bright yellow with a waxy sheen, fully double and approximately ¾ inch in diameter. They are
borne in sparsely branched peduncles on stems 18
inches tall.
Mid to late summer
The alternate
leaves are triangular-ovate in shape, ternately compound and 3-4 inches wide. Each of the three lobes is again
cut into 3-othed segments. Leaf margins are
closely crenate to dentate. The leaves have long petioles.
Ranunculus is a
derivative from the Latin name rana which means “little frog”
and was given by Pliny because many of the
Ranunculus are found in damp areas.
