peeling off in papery flakes on the upper
portion of the plant, the lower trunk is gray to
reddish-brown, often marbled, fissured into
irregular plates. |

Cones are, 1˝-3 inches long, borne solitary
or in small clusters, gray or dull brown in
color. |
