Flowers are innocuocus. |

Needles are borne in fascicles of 2 and 1-2 inches
long, rigid and curved, margins finely toothed,
with a prominent basal sheath about ½ inch
long. |

|
Buds are reddish-brown, ¼-½ inch long,
encrusted with resin, appearing like “beer
nuts.” |
|
Bark is gray, scaly, with regular bumpy
protuberances where the needles fell. |
|
Cones are sessile to short-stalked, ¾-1½
inches
long, borne solitary or in small clusters. Cones
are not showy. |
