Native woodland groundcover with low mats of foliage
 
Purple to violet, 1 inch wide and borne in an open cyme with usually 2-3 flowers
 
Leaves of the sterile shoots are elliptic and 1-3 inches long. Leaves of the erect flowering stems are oval and less than 1 inch long.
 
 
  • 'Blue Ridge' - Blue flowers with overlapping petals. 12 inches tall flowering stems.
  • 'Bruce's White' - White flowers with very conspicuous yellow eyes, 6 inches tall.
  • 'Pink Ridge' - This is a pink flowered form of 'Blue Ridge'.
  • 'Home Fires' - Deep pink flowers.
  • 'Sherwood Purple' - Purplish-blue fragrant flowers, 6 inches tall. Makes an excellent groundcover.
