The 2 lipped, tubular flowers are borne in
terminal racemes. They are 1-2 inches long and
scarlet-pink in color. There are 5 stamens, four
of them fertile, the 5th is sterile. The sterile
stamen is often bearded, which gives rise to the
common name beardlongue. |
