4-6 inches wide, petals 4 or 6, borne on long peduncles with coarse appressed white hairs, flower colors are orange-red, white, deep red or pink, often with a mound of black pollen-bearing stamens in the center of the flower.
Late May-June
Hispid, leaves to 12 inches long and regularly pinnatifid, the segments oblong-lanceolate and sharply lobed or toothed. Broken stem or leaves exude a white milky sap.
 
 
  • 'Carousel' - White flowers with orange margins.
  • 'China Boy' - Orange flowers with white bases.
  • 'Glowing Embers' - Crimson-red flowers.
  • 'Mrs. Perry' - Salmon pink flowers.
  • 'Warlord' - Very deep red color on large blooms.
