Groundcover
 6-8 inches tall and spread 12-18 inches.
Flowers white, in terminal spikes, 1-2 inches long.
Early spring
Alternate, simple, often crowded at the end of the stems, leaves obovate, 2-4 inches long, coarsely and bluntly toothed above the middle, entire and cuneate at base, glabrous.
 
 
  • 'Green Carpet' - Foliage grows low to the ground, forming a groundcover. Foliage color is a deeper green than the species.
  • 'Variegata' ('Silver Edge') - Leaves are prominently mottled with white, is not as vigorous as the species.
 
Pachysandra is derived from the Greek pachys. thick and andros, man and refers to the thick stamens.
