Sprawling plants
9-12 inches tall and 12 inches wide
Flowers canary yellow, 3-4 inches wide, petals shallowly toothed, with a mild fragrance. The fruit is
2-3 inches long, leathery or woody and it is broadly 4-winged.
Summer
The alternate leaves have long, tapering petioles and lanceolate-shaped blades. The margins are entire and the leaf blades are 2-4 inches long. The stems have stiff, appressed hairs.
 
 
  • 'Greencourt Lemon' - Wavy, lance-shaped, grey-green leaves. The flowers are pale yellow and the plants flower intermittently until fall.
  • 'Greencourt Lemon' is an excellent plant for the rock garden or border front.
 
Oenothera is Greek for wine tasting. Folklore claims the roots of some species were used as relishes with after dinner wines.
