Pure white with a
green crescent on all 6 segments
of the perianth which are
nearly equal length. This differs from Snowdrops
(Galanthus
nivalis), where the external segments are
longer than the internal segments.
The single
flowers of Leucojum droop and are bell-shaped and have a
sweet fragrance. They are borne several blooms
per stem while Snowdrops have one to a stem.
Early spring
Leaves are linear
and straplike, 6-9 inches long. '4 inches
wide, obtuse.
'Gravetye Giant' - Larger flowers
than the species, 2-8 per flower scape.
