Round habit
1-4 feet tall and 2 feet wide
Heads terminating the long stems, 2-3 inches wide, with broad and obtuse white rays, disk flowers yellow.
Early summer to frost.
Leaves alternate, coarsely toothed, lower leaves oblanceolate, to 1 foot long including petiole upper leaves, lanceolate, sessile, coarsely and bluntly toothed.
 
 
  • 'Aglaya' - Frilled double flowers, 3 inches wide, 2 feet tall.
  • 'Alaska' - Large single white flowers with yellow centers, 3 inches wide, 2-3 feet tall plants. Hardy to zone 4.
  • 'Cobham Gold' - Double cream-colored flowers with deep yellow centers, 15-18 inches tall.
  • 'Diener's Double' - Double flowers, 24-30 inches tall.
  • 'Esther Read' - Double flowers, 18-24 inches tall.
  • 'Everest' - Large flowers, 3-4 inches wide on stems 3-4 feet tall.
  • 'Little Miss Muffet' - semidouble, creamy white flowers, 8-12 inches tall.
  • 'Little Princess' - Single flowers, compact plants, 12 inches tall.
  • 'Majestic' - Large. single white flower (4-5 inches wide) with a small yellow center, 3 feet tall.
  • 'Marconi' - semidouble white flowers, up to 5 inches wide, on 3 feet tall stems.
  • 'Polaris' - Huge flowers, some 7 inches wide, are carried on 3 feet tall stems.
  • 'Silver Princess' - Creamy white flowers with yellow centers, 8-12 inches tall. It is similar to 'Little Miss Muffet'.
  • 'Snowcap' - This cultivar selected by Alan Bloom is compact, 12-15 inches tall and flowers profusely.
  • 'T. KilIin' - Single flowers with double rows of petals and crested yellow centers. It has thick sturdy stems which makes it desirable as a cut flower. 24-30 inches tall.
  • 'Wirral Pride' - Flowers have an obvious center crest, 2-3 feet tall.
 
Luther Burbank is often credited with the development of shasta daisys since his experiments were done near the white peaks of Mt. Shasta in California .
