Mauve-pink hooded
flowers, ˝-1 inch long, borne
in the whorls.
Late spring
to midsummer.
Square stems,
opposite leaves, both have a bristly pubescence.
Leaves ovate, with a cordate base and crenate-dentate margin, with
gray-green to cream-green blotches near the
midrib of the leaves.
'Album' - White flowers with leaves similar to the
species.
'Aureum' - YelIow leaf form, pink
flowers. Shade and moist soil is required
for this yellow leaf selection.
'Beacon Silver' - Silver
leaves with narrow green borders and pink
flowers.
'Chequers' - Leaves are green
with a wide silver stripe in the center. The
green margins are broader than those of 'Beacon
Silver'. The flowers are pink. Plant height is
9-12 inches when in flower.
'Shell Pink' - Flowers are pale pink on plants 8 inches
tall.
'White Nancy' - Has silver leaves, like 'Beacon Silver' and white flowers.
