Individual drooping flowers are tubular in
shape. Arranged in dense racemes at the top of
the flowering stems. The flowers are massed on
the top 6-10 inches of the flower scape. Flower colors are red and yellow on
the species, with a greater variety available on the
cultivars. |

Linear-sword shaped, to 3 feet long, 1 inch
wide, gray-green, strongly keeled, margins often
rough. |

'Alcazar' - Clear red flowers, 40 inches tall.
- 'Bressingham Comet' - Flower spikes have red top flowers
and yellow flowers below.
- 'Earliest of All' - Coral flowers, earlier bloom than
other cultivars and very hardy, 2˝ feet.
- 'lnnocence' - Narrow flower spikes turn from
coppery-orange to pale yellow and then to cream, 30 inches
tall.
- 'Little Maid' - Creamy-white spikes, 2 feet tall. Introduced
by Beth Chatto of
England.
- 'Primrose Beauty' - 30 inches, Primrose yellow flowers.
- 'Royal Standard' - 3 feet, top flowers red lower, yellow to
cream color.
- 'Springtime' - Top flowers red lower ones are white.
