Two to three
flowers per spathe. Flowers are
fragrant, bluish purple and 3 inches long. They have 3 erect
standards and 3 faIls similar to the bearded iris.

This old fashioned
bearded iris has leaves up to 24 inches long.
They are gray-green and sword-blade shaped, like
the bearded iris.
Iris pallida is one of the species
from which orris is extracted. The powdered dry
rhizome
is used in the production of some perfumes.
