The flower color is pale green, which differs
from the white or pinkish to maroon color of
other hellebore species. Individual flowers are
2˝ diameter, with 5 sepals and are borne
terminally on long flower stems, which tend to
lean due to the weight of the flowers.
Winter to spring in warm climates.
The basal leaves are palmately divided into 3
leaf segments which have very stiff prickly edges. The
manner in which the leaves are held on the stems gives
the appearance that the stems are carrying claw-like
foliage. The foliage is gray-green and very attractive.
