Resembles Blue Fescue - Round hummock of blue leaves topped by arching flower heads
24 inches by 36 inches wide
Inflorescence is a drooping, one-sided panicle. up to 6 inches long, arching at the tip of the stems. The spikelets are sparsely borne, initially a pale blue, maturing to a light brown. The flower resembles those of some of the cereal grains.
 
Leaf blades up to 18 inches long, ˝ inch wide, tapering to a fine point, slightly hairy, light glaucous blue. Foliage is semi-evergreen.
 

  • 'Sapphire Fountain' - more resistant to leaf rust.
 
The name Helictotrichon comes from the Greek words helix meaning spiral and trichos meaning hair.
