Identified by the
hollow pith (solid at the nodes) in their stems
var. fortunei - gracefully
arching branches, more upright in habit than
Siebold's Forsythia and it is the form of
F. suspensa. The flowers are the same color
as those of Siebold's, only slightly larger.
'Sieboldii' - first forsythia introduced
into European and American gardens has long, graceful,
often procumbent branches sometimes planted
at the edge of a wall where the long stems
hang down vertically for several feet. Named
for plant explorer,
Philip von Siebold.
