Euthamia graminifolia
Flat Topped Goldenrod aka Grass Leaved Goldenrod

North America

Rhizomatous perennial of open, usually moist sites.

This plant is sometimes confused with the genus, Solidago, but is distinguished by having dotted pits, glands and spots on its leaves and smaller flower heads than Solidago.

The specific epithet, graminifolia, reflects the fact that this species has grass-like foliage with conspicuous parallel veins which would make it a monocotyledon. However, closer inspection of the veins reveals that they are connected by tiny lateral veins thus making this a dicotyledon.
