Rhizomatous, erect perennial of damp thickets and stream banks.
24 inches tall with a spread of 18-24 inches
Heads in compact clusters, 35-70 flowers, each flower about ˝ inch across, in dense corymbs. Flowers are bluish purple and look very much like the flowers of Mexican Ageratum.
Midsummer to frost
Opposite, triangular-ovate, 1˝-3 inches long, obtuse or acute, truncate or abruptly contracted at the base, coarsely toothed.
 
 
 
 
Eupatorium is named for Mithridates Eupator, ancient king of Pontus, who was said to have employed one of the eupatoriums for medicinal use.
