The erect leaves and flower stalks create a small clump.
Self seeding may eventually form drifts of this native
species.
6-9 inches tall
1-2 inches wide,
nodding, yellow lily-shaped flower is borne atop
a single stalk. The sepals are yellow on the
inside and purple on the back. The petals are
also yellow but have a purple streak on the
mid-rib.
Mid to late spring
Each corm produces
2 leaves which are 4-8 inches tall, oblong or spatulate with an acute
tip. They are conspicuously mottled with
maroon-purple spots.
