Pink with the upper petals darker spotted - The awn of each fruit (mericap) is coiled and apparently able to drive itself into the ground giving the plant the ability, in essence, to plant its own seed.
 
Stemless (acaulescent) plants having basal leaves which are pubescent and pinnately compound.
 
 
 

Common name comes from the beaked fruit which is characteristic.
