Biternate leaves
are basal, arising from the rhizomes - coarse
texture - new growth edged with red - evergreen
True plants of this
species are rarely commercially available to the
home gardener. A hybrid, Epimedium x
rubrum may be sold as the species. It is a
cross of E. alpinum x E. grandifolium.
