Twiggy, rounded shrub.
6-15 feet high and wide.
White flowers borne in small cymes at the terminal end of the stems.
 
Opposite, simple, broad-elliptic to ovate, 1 112 to 3” long, 3/4 to 1 3/4” wide.
Leaves turn reddish in the fall
 
Noted for its red stems but not always outstanding color.
Fruits (drupe) are small and purplish-black in color.
 
 
  • 'Atrosanguinea' - Stems a deep red color.
  • 'Variegata' - Variegated, yellowish leaves.
  • 'Viridissima' - Yellowish green winter stems.
