Cichorium intybus Common Chicory aka Succory, Blue Sailors, Coffee Weed, Bunk   Northern Africa, Europe and Western Asia Erect, tap rooted perennial weed of fields, untilled ground and waste land   Bright azure blue ray flowers in sessile heads borne 1-3 together on wand-like, sparsely leaved branches. The flower heads close about noon.           Closely related to endive (Cichorium endivia).
