Caltha palustris Marsh Marigold     Early spring blooming perennial of stream edges and wet woodlands.   Yellow petals which are actually petaloid sepals, numerous stamens, simple pistils and follicular fruit.           The specific epithet, palustris, means marshy or swampy which describes the species' habitat.
