Solitary and terminal flower is 1-2˝ inches
wide, poppy-like, in shades of red, blue and
white. The species has 6-8 sepals but double
flowering cultivars exist. In fact, the species
is not often used because cultivars with more
vibrant colors are more popular. |

Basal leaves are twice or ternately compound
with narrow-cuneate segments stem leaves cut into many
narrow divisions. |

including:'Lord Lieutenant', deep blue 'Mount Everest', white 'The Admiral', blue 'The Governor', scarlet and a
mixture.
