The flower scapes create an upright habit,
18-24 inches tall the leaves create 12 inch tall clumps.
white flowers are borne in a ½ wide umbel atop
an 18 inches tall flower scape. The perianth is star-shaped
individual segments are white with faint green to brown
lines on the back of the segment.

late summer - July and August
Leaves are ¾ inch wide, 12 inches long, with the characteristic onion odor to the crushed foliage. The
blue-green leaves of this species are flat compared to
the round and hollow leaves of A. schoenoprasum.
Chinese chives
grow well in sun or partial shade and moist,
well-drained soils. Division is required every 3-4
years. Flower heads should be removed before seed
ripening to prevent unwanted seed dispersal.
