Narrowly pyramidal, with stiff horizontal branching.
40 to 60 feet in the landscape but up to 200 feet in the wild.
Plants are monoecious. Cones are reddish in color, pistillate produced only at the top, staminate produced throughout.
 
Needles are directed forward and are dense along the stem. They are about 3/4 to 1.5 inches long and rounded at the tip. The foliage lustrous dark green on top with 2 white bands and a sunken midrib on the bottom of the needle.
 
 
 
Cones are about 6 inches long by 1.75 to 2 inches wide and cylindrical in form. They are reddish brown in color.

‘Prostrata’ is a slow growing form with a trailing habit

The Nordmann Fir is generally not consider to be as good in the home landscape as some of the other firs. Take a look at the concolor or white fir.
