Arranged in a comb-like fashion, to 1 1/2” long,
broadest at about the middle, sharply two-pointed at
apex on young plants, dark green above and furrowed with
a few stomatal lines near the apex, lighter green
beneath with 2 gray-green bands; of the firs described
here this one is quickly noticeable by the sharp prickly
apex.
Cones 3 1/2 to 5” long by 1 i/2 to 2” wide,
brown.
Supposed to be one
of the more heat tolerant fir species and grows
well in the
Southern United States
