This is a genus with only one species which is a medium-size deciduous tree native to parts of China. Taxonomists differ as to the proper family for this plant with some placing it in the Nyssaceae Family while some say it should be in its own family, Davidiaceae. The genus is named for Father Armand David (1826-1900).
