Depending
on the taxonomic source, there are between
one and four species in this genus of clump
forming
herbaceous perennials. Plants in
this genus are closely related to those in
the
Filipendula and
Spiraea
genera. They are native to the temperate
regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
This is a nice plant for the shade garden with
its upright form and finer textured compound
leaves. The whitish flowers can also be quite
showy.
