Depending 
				on the taxonomist consulted, there are between 120 and 200 
				species of herbaceous perennials in this genus. They come mostly 
				from the temperate regions of the world. Despite the common 
				name, they are not related to the true rue plants that are found 
				in the 
				
				Rutaceae Family. The 
								term "rue" comes from the Latin word, 
				ruta, 
								which means "bitter-leaved".
