Dr. Allan M. Armitage |
If
you are seriously into
herbaceous
perennials, you need to be aware of the books and
work of Dr. Allan M. Armitage who is a professor of
horticulture at the University of Georgia. He is one
of the rare scholars who is equally comfortable with
professional growers and the
backyard
gardener. Although most of his professional career
has been located in the Southeastern U.S., he was
born and raised in
Canada and received his Ph.D.
from
Michigan State University. So, he has both
academic and practical experience with perennials
adapted to a very wide range of growing
environments.
I strongly encourage
you to buy his books and to catch one of his
informative and entertaining programs if he is in
your area! |

Comments
from Mr. PGC: Throughout
history, many people have made lasting contributions to the
world of plants. In these pages, we hope to pay tribute to
some of them. Our concentration will be primarily on those
who have introduced plants to the gardening world, those who
have helped spread the word about gardening and those who
have made significant contributions to landscaping and
landscaping design around the world.
This list will be constantly growing as we add
new names. If you have someone who you think should be on
the list, please send us an
Email.
