Originated by
Dr. Kevin Vaughn of Massachusetts, this
non-registered cultivar is a
self-pollinated seedling of H. 'Beatrice'
×
H. 'Beatrice'.
Although it was never named itself, it was used as a pod
parent in Vaughn's breeding program resulting in several
outstanding new cultivars."Vaughn Seedling 73-2" was described
as a small size plant that had heavily streaked
variegation. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...crosses with 'Frances Williams' and
H. plantaginea...the
resulting seedlings became Kevin's most useful breeding
plants, including 'Breeder's
Choice', 'Christmas Tree',
and 'William Lachman'."
