Hosta 'Topo Gigio'

Originated by Dr. Doug Beilstein of Ohio and Mark Zilis of Illinois and registered by Mark in 2009, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Breeder's Choice'. A medium size hosta, it grows about 10 inches in height with a spread of around 25 inches. The slightly wavy, dark green foliage has yellow streaked variegation which turns to creamy white later and is narrowly ovate. The leaves are lightly wavy, ovate and dull on top. Tubular shaped flowers bloom from mid-July into August.

Topo Gigio was a mouse puppet act that regularly appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show during the 1950s and 60s.
